Chris Stelly is the executive director of Louisiana Entertainment, the division of Louisiana Economic Development focused on growing the state’s film, interactive, and music industries. Filmmakers who’ve shot in the area know Louisiana Entertainment as the entity that administers the state’s popular incentives program, which offers tax credits to qualifying productions. Those tax credits can amount to over 30% of what a film spends in state, and if a production uses mostly local talent and crew, then that number is closer to 40% or more.
Recently, the tax incentives program has undergone some changes, and Chris came on the show to address those changes and to answer some of the questions from the local film community.
Some of the topics we discuss include
- How to encourage long-term investment thinking about the program
- Why the tax incentives benefit Louisiana and the film industry in general
- How the program caters to both big-budget Hollywood productions and local filmmakers
Hear all that and more in this episode of The nsavides Podcast.

Nick, that was great! I really appreciate the care you took to give us an excellent podcast with Chris Stelly, who is one of my favorite people and a blessing to Louisiana’s film industry as are you.
I would love to be a guest on your podcast when my book is finished. I’ll be sharing the lessons I’ve learned as an actress, coach, director, producer, and writer about how to achieve success in show business.
